Canadian women have invented lifesaving products, useful everyday items for work and home, new technologies for all industries, and more. The women inventors profiled in the Library come from all parts of Canada. They are only a sampling of the thousands of remarkable women we have met over the last year. As the site evolves, additional biographies will be added.

As you read about the challenges and joys of inventing, we hope that you will find the biographies as moving and inspirational as we do. Many of our inventive women started companies as a result of their inventions and, as women business owners, lead by example. Scientific inventions in all disciplines show our ability as Canadians to meet the challenges of this millennium. If you are a young girl or young woman, we hope that you'll be inspired by our inventive women to consider careers in non-traditional areas. And if you're an inventive woman with a great idea...well, there is a lot to learn from the women in the Library about how to turn the idea into a reality.

This library is our millennium gift to the people of Canada. The information contained in the Library will give all Canadians a better understanding of our history as well as our potential as a nation.
