About the Invention

Throughout history, women and sometimes men, used cosmetics to care for and decorate their skin. Cleopatra applied eyeliner and Louis XIV dusted his face with powder. Today's cosmetics are vastly different, as shown by Lorraine Mignault's invention.

Her therapeutic skin lotion resulted from a marriage of cosmetics and science, requiring over nine years to define the basic research behind the technology and another three years developing its formula. The lotion is derived from natural ingredients and can be used to treat a number of conditions including headaches, back pain, sports-related injuries and arthritis. It is also highly effective in relieving itching from a variety of causes such as insect bites, acne, skin rashes and chicken pox. The lotion provides relief from insomnia, encouraging a deeper, more restful sleep. The product can also be used as a base for a wide range of skin, hair, nail and body products.

Lorraine's company, Positive Living Inc. is devoted to developing high quality, life-improving products. Her concern for wellness solutions led her to create a line of muffins that are uniquely formulated, processed and shaped, and loaded with extra nutrients. For her trailblazing research and development work in the production of new food products, Lorraine was nominated in 1992 for the Canadian Manning Innovation Award.

About the Inventor

Health and wellness are the cornerstones of Lorraine's approach to life. Since graduating from the University of Manitoba's Faculty of Human Ecology, Lorraine has dedicated her life to the development of lifestyle programmes and products that benefit society. Energetic and passionate, Lorraine ‘lives’ her work daily. Her interest in the French-inspired lifestyle (a reverence for food, skin care, one's attire, home environment and daily life) has shaped her research and product development, and success with clients, both in the food and dermatological sectors.

Many people have called Lorraine an ‘Angel on Earth’. Her therapeutic lotion has provided tremendous relief from suffering for many users. Though she has had to surmount many challenges as she evolved her work, the feedback she continuously receives from people inspires her and makes her even more determined to succeed.

Lorraine Mignault founded Positive Living Inc. in 1987. In 1999, she was a finalist in the Manitoba Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Awards (Innovation Category), which recognized her professional success.
