WORLD INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY DAY
It starts with an idea –
Celebrating women's contribution to innovation
April 26th 2006

Inventive Women is very proud to partner with the Canadian Intellectual Property Office of the Government of Canada on World Intellectual Property Day.

Declared in 2001 by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), this is World IP Day's sixth anniversary. World IP Day is an opportunity to highlight the significance of creativity and innovation in people's daily lives and in the betterment of society.

It starts with an idea celebrates the starting point of all intellectual property, the seeds from which all innovations and creative works grow. Celebrating women's contribution to innovation showcases Canadian women's ingenuity and creativity, and will introduce a number of outstanding women to the Canadian public.

FEMALE CREATIVITY ROCKS!
Invention Workshop for Women

In November 2005, Inventive Women launched Female Creativity Rocks! Invention Workshop. The first workshop was a great success and sold out well in advance.

At Female Creativity Rocks! Invention Workshop participants will:

  • Meet other creative and inventive women.
  • Hear some great success stories (and a few sad tales).
  • Get important advice from invention and business experts.
  • Learn how Inventive Women’s “Ten Steps for Inventing” can help get an idea off the ground.

Workshop Speakers:

Annie Wood, Founder and President of Inventive Women, the creator of the award winning websites www.inventivewomen.com and www.inventivekids.com, and the author of Canadian Women Invent!

Christine Simbirski, Founder and President of ARX Design Strategies Inc. and product development specialist. "I really enjoy exploring new concepts and the challenge of transforming great ideas into great products"

Wendy Miller, Inventor of Protect A Pan, and a successful entrepreneur. Protect A Pan was born out of a passion to preserve cookware in its original state and create kitchen storage space solutions.

Edmond Rampen, Innovation expert, international Product Designer and Associate Professor at the Ontario College of Art and Design. Edmund has been awarded over 25 patents for his inventions.

Got a great idea but don’t know where to go with it? This is the course for you! Annie Wood, Founder and President of Inventive Women will show you how to develop your invention idea and how to avoid common pitfalls. This course provides an introduction to all aspects of the invention process, including product development, patents and trademarks, and marketing.

Winter 2007 Tues., Feb. 6, 13, 20 6:30-9:30 pm
Spring 2007 Tues., June 5, 12, 19 6:30-9:30 pm
